About Dr. David Kafitz

Originally from Western North Carolina, my professional background spans business, education, and technology. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and pursued computer science studies at the University of North Carolina - Asheville before becoming a certified elementary school teacher. I furthered my education with both a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and a Doctorate in Education from Western Carolina University.

My diverse career has included teaching, school administration, district technology operations, and educational consulting—helping school districts nationwide navigate digital and online learning. My passion for education, problem-solving, and helping others seamlessly translates into my approach to real estate, where I strive to educate and empower my clients.

Community Involvement & Personal Interests

I believe in giving back and staying engaged in the Columbia, SC community. I proudly serve on the Board of Directors for the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce and am an active member of the Optimist Club of St. Andrews/Irmo. Additionally, I contribute to the Central Carolina Realtors Association by serving on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, Service Committee, and the Realtors Political Action Committee.

Beyond real estate, I’m passionate about outdoor adventures, including hiking, backpacking, water sports, and global travel. I’ve been fortunate to explore the United States, Europe, and the South Pacific, experiences that have broadened my perspective and enriched how I connect with people from all walks of life.

Growing up I was very interested in real estate. This interest turned into a passion when I was hired as a private consultant at EXIT Palmetto Real Estate Services at the age of 16! I became the youngest Realtor in South Carolina when I received my license the day after graduating high school and sold 7+ figures worth of homes in my first two months licensed. I co-founded the New Horizons Team which went on to be EXIT Realty New Horizons a thriving brokerage in Columbia, South Carolina. I also co-founded the Cola Guys Real Estate Podcast For The Average Joe which specializes in episodes highlighting the Midlands community and educating first-time homebuyers what all goes into buying a home. 

During my first year licensed I quickly rose through the ranks. I was awarded a Top 20 Business professional Under 40 by Lexington County, Top Producing Team by EXIT Palmetto Real Estate Services, Rookie of the Year by EXIT Palmetto Real Estate Services, CCRA Circle of Excellence, and had a motion put in my name by the State of South Carolina House of Representatives! In just my first year as a Realtor  I was able to help 14 clients complete a purchase/sale of their home and totaled over 5.3 Million in volume sold!

In 2010, my family and I came to South Carolina from Greensboro, North Carolina.  I was licensed to sell real estate in 2012 and have worked in both buyers’ and sellers’ markets in the South Charlotte Metropolitan Area as well as, Greenville, Charleston, and Rock Hill. We put down roots in Blythewood, SC in 2022 and HD Homes of SC is here to serve Cola-Met and surrounding areas!
